Police search for suspects after man shot while mowing lawn on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (July 1, 2015) — Indianapolis Metropolitan police were investigating after a man was shot on the east side.

The shooting was reported in the 200 block of North Tacoma Avenue just east of downtown around 10 a.m. Dispatchers confirmed a person was shot. Police said the victim was hit in the shoulder and described his condition as serious.

The man was mowing his lawn when he noticed two people near his truck. He was shot after confronting them and rushed to Eskenazi Hospital. Police were searching for the men. Investigators said one of the suspects was armed with a gun, the other with a machete.

The shooting follows a pair of shootings early Wednesday morning that left one man dead and another in critical condition.
