INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 15, 2015)-- FOX59's Wishful Wednesday segment highlights special wishes granted by Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana for central Indiana to help children fighting life-threatening medical conditions.

Joey, 5, and Naomi, 4, have a lot in common. They both love Disney World.

“I like Ariel!” explained Naomi.

Their mothers, Lisa and Angie, work together at IU Health.  Joey and Naomi are both fighting life-threatening medical conditions.

“Who would have thought a normal day at the park would have been a dream come true,” said Naomi’s mother, Lisa Rankin.

“We were diagnosed in September and they were diagnosed in January,” added Joey’s mother, Angie Worzala,

Joey is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He needs another year and a half of chemotherapy before doctors hope he’ll be 100 percent again.

“Your life can change on a dime,” said Worzala.

Naomi was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor just a few months after Joey in January of 2014. Today, her scans are clear.

“The Lord removed the tumor out of her head. Praise be the Lord. The doctors consider it a miracle as well," said Rankin.

In June, Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana granted Naomi’s wish to visit Ariel and all the other princesses at Disney World.

“It was magical, to say the least. It was a great time to get away with the family and enjoy each other's company,” explained Rankin.

In October, Joey gets his wish granted to do the same thing as his friend, Naomi.  Only his focus at Disney World is on Pluto not the princesses.

“They are very excited!” said Angie Worzala about Joey’s upcoming wish to Disney World.

These good friends are helping each other get through this difficult time.

“Anytime I can hop over to her office and share a laugh and vent a little with somebody that really understands--It`s divine placement that we have the opportunity to work together,” said Rankin.

Joey and Naomi and their families want to give back to Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana.

Their team will walk in the 10th Annual Walk For Wishes at Fort Harrison State Park on July 18, along with FOX59's Nicole Pence.

The event raises money to grant more wishes for children like Naomi and Joey.

The average wish costs about $8,000. Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana hopes to raise more than 200,000 at this year’s Walk For Wishes for children in central Indiana with life-threatening medical conditions.
