Deputies nab wanted man after lengthy foot pursuit

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY,Ind. (July 19, 2015)–A deputy with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department hat to put in a bit of a foot chase  early Saturday, but he eventually got his man.

Deputy Matt Bush was patrolling in the 2200 block of Tyler Drive in Columbus at 3:18 a.m. when he spotted a man he recognized who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Deputy Bush called out to 28-year-old Blake Purtlebaugh, but the man fled on foot.

After a lengthy foot pursuit, Purtlebaugh was taken into custody.   He now faces charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Warrant for failure to appear on Possession of Methamphetamine.

Purtlebaugh is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail.
