Fire heavily damages southeast side home

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 19,2015)–Fire heavily damaged a two-story home on the city’s southeast side Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the 5200 block of Thompson Park Boulevard at 4:46 p.m.

When they arrived they found heavy smoke pouring from the garage area.

No one was home at the time of the fire.  Firefighters were able to locate the family dog and bring him out safely.

However, 2 cats reportedly perished in the fire.

The blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes.

Fire officials say the family had just moved into the house last week.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Damage is estimated at $40,000.
