Abell was killed after being struck by a vehicle during the early morning hours of June 28 near the intersection of Kessler Boulevard and Crestview Avenue.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Family members canvassed the area for three weeks, seeking information about Abell’s death, they say the arrest allows them to move forward.

“We know that Thomas isn’t going to come back, but we’re able to move in the direction of seeking justice for him,” said Michael Abell, Thomas’ brother.

Abell’s brother said he was an avid runner and enjoyed spending time with his family. Abell graduated from IUPUI with a biology degree and was working as a lab assistant.
