HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (Aug. 3, 2015)– The Howard County Sheriff’s Department confirmed two women died after a police pursuit that started along East 300 South and 350 East just east of Kokomo Monday night.

Police say an officer initiated a car chase with a vehicle traveling at excessive speeds through the southern part of Howard County around 8:15 p.m. The car was going 100 mph and exceeded that speed at times, police said. The vehicle traveled through the town of Center, struck a house, turned around, ran the stop sign and struck a vehicle that was westbound, killing two occupants.

Police identified the victims as 73-year-old Nancy Cripe and 82-year-old Mary Jo Dimitt.

“It’s tragic. It’s one of those things our purpose in law enforcement is to try and protect people and this is tragic for something like this to happen. Those ladies were totally innocent,” said Howard County Sheriff Steven Rogers.
