Police on scene where child was struck in Greenwood on Aug. 10, 2015

GREENWOOD, Ind. (Aug. 10, 2015) – A vehicle struck a child Monday morning in Greenwood.

According to police at the scene, the 8-year-old was riding his scooter when he pulled in front of a car. Police said the driver couldn’t avoid the collision. The boy was in serious condition after suffering a head injury along with cuts on his face.

It happened before 8:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Harrison Drive.

Investigators said the boy was riding around as he waited for school to start. Police described it as an unfortunate accident and said the driver was cooperating.
