INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 15, 2015) – A 100-pound tortoise is safe and back home thanks to Indianapolis police.

The very large reptile escaped from his owner Saturday morning in the area of West 34th Street and North High School Road, but thankfully IMPD Sergeant Larry Wheeler found him.

IMPD posted this picture to their Twitter account.

This isn’t the first time IMPD has saved an animal. In March, IMPD officer Teresa Welborn rescued a puppy she found on the side of the road.
