INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 21, 2015) — The Indianapolis Colts will soon hit the field for the new season and fans should be aware of traffic changes near Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detailed changes Tuesday that are designed to improve traffic flow around the stadium on game days and will only affect outbound traffic after games.

Here’s what the traffic pattern will look like for McCarty Street between Capitol Avenue and Missouri Street:

  • Westbound traffic in the center travel lane will be directed southbound on Missouri Street to the I-70 East/ I-65 South entrance ramp. Message boards and traffic cones will be used in the center travel lane on McCarty notifying drivers of the southbound (left) turn onto Missouri Street
  • Westbound traffic in the curb lane will continue west on McCarty to West Street and then southbound to either the I-70 West entrance ramp or southbound on West Street

IMPD said additional police resources would be assigned to the affected intersections to make sure drivers know about the changes.
