MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (Aug. 27, 2015) – Convicted killer Mark Leonard arrived at the state prison in Michigan City to begin serving his sentence in the Richmond Hill house explosion case.

Doug Garrison from the Indiana Department of Correction confirmed the news.

A judge sentenced Leonard to life in prison during a hearing on Aug. 14. Leonard was convicted in July on 53 counts, including murder, in connection with the November 2012 blast that killed two neighbors and damaged or destroyed dozens of homes in the Richmond Hill subdivision on the south side of Indianapolis.

Prosecutors said Leonard plotted to blow up the house of his girlfriend, Monserrate Shirley, in a scheme to collect insurance money.
