The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department reports 29-year-old Natasha Peters fled from Memorial Hospital on Saturday. The sheriff’s department says she had been granted a furlough and taken to the hospital on Aug. 24 because the birth was high risk.

The baby was born Wednesday and remains at the hospital.
