SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Sept. 3, 2015)– Felony charges have been filed against a Mishawaka man for allegedly beating a dog to death in a family dispute.

According to South Bend Police, Joshua Prior had asked his father, George Prior, for money, which his father gave him. Joshua left the home but returned a short time later demanding more money from his father who refused his request.

According to his father, Prior then became overly violent when an argument ensued between the two, which prompted the family dog to start barking. He then allegedly picked up a boat oar and beat the dog dead.

He then left the house on foot whereas police were notified of the incident and promptly located and arrested him without further incident.

Prior is charged with killing a domestic animal, cruelty to an animal and violent animal cruelty.
