BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (Sept. 11, 2015)— Police located a missing 11-month-old child Friday, and the man who they say took her is now under arrest.

Earlier in the day, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the Hillview Mobile Home Park on National Road. A woman told officers her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Myles Crenshaw, had threatened and battered her.

She fled the residence. When deputies arrived, Crenshaw had fled on foot with an 11-month-old child. The woman had visible injuries but refused treatment. She was taken to a shelter.

Police used a K-9 and helicopter to assist in the search for the child. A family member told police Crenshaw was in an apartment in the 2200 block of Marr Road. He was located and taken into custody. Police said they were moments away from issuing an Amber Alert.

Police said he is not cooperating with detectives.

Crenshaw faces preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, criminal confinement, burglary, interfering with a 911 call and intimidation with a deadly weapon. Police say additional charges may be filed later.

“This was a situation that the Sheriff’s Office took very seriously. Because we were dealing with the possible abduction of an 11 month old child and with the information that we were receiving, we used the Everbridge network, our K-9 Unit and air services.  As the day continued, it became more and more critical to locate Crenshaw and the child,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers.

The child is now with Child Protective Services.
