BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (Sept. 11, 2015)– A report of shots fired and a social media trail led cops to make arrests for drugs and guns in Bartholomew County.

Authorities found guns, heroin and marijuana during a traffic stop after responding to reports of shots fired in the area of county road 400 north and US 31 at 11:42 p.m. Thursday. Shell casings were found at the scene, but no suspect was located.

Just after noon, police received a tip anonymously that included video. Police say the video showed Anthony Sherman, 21, shooting at traffic signs at that location.

Police went to Sherman’s address and saw a vehicle leaving. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver identified himself as Sherman.

Officers found marijuana in the car and say they got more information about the gunshots fired at signs. Sherman was arrested and preliminarily charged with possession of marijuana and criminal recklessness with a firearm.

A search warrant was served on Sherman’s vehicle and residence. At his residence, police seized several firearms, heroin, marijuana and other drug-related items.  These items may result in additional charges for Sherman.

The guns led police to search for Jeremy Moore, 32.  Deputies located Moore at a Days Inn and found that he had an outstanding warrant out of Bartholomew County for failure to appear – driving while suspended. Deputies located a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia in his possession. A search warrant was obtained for the room he was believed to be staying in. Heroin and syringes were found in the room.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Mr. Sherman for posting his criminal activity on social media so that we could handle this incident in a timely manner,” said Sheriff Matt Myers.
