Attempted robbery suspect identified after being shot by elderly man

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 21, 2015)—A suspect is in critical condition after being shot by a business owner during an attempted robbery on the east side of Indianapolis Monday.

Officers responded to the 700 block of N. Bosart Avenue after receiving a call about a person shot just before 5 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, it was discovered a man had shot a suspect during an attempted robbery, said police. The suspect was identified as Anthony Talley, 27.

Police said Talley was attempting to rob an elderly female business owner inside her rental office.

Talley pointed a gun at the 75-year-old woman and the victim’s husband, 76, appeared from the back of the house. The husband fired at the suspect, critically injuring him. The couple did not sustain any injuries but did suffer emotional distress as result of the suspect’s robbery attempt.

Police learned the suspect was wanted on several outstanding warrants in Marion and Johnson counties.
