Police: Investigation into stolen car could lead to break in rash of car break-ins

INDIANAPOLIS (September 23, 2015) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers took a person of interest into custody early Wednesday morning after a reported car theft on the city’s east side.

Officers came into contact with the stolen vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop. One man was taken into custody at Cross Willow Lane and Dancy Drive. A second person was still on the run, and police were looking for him. The stolen vehicle was recovered from Willow Lake subdivision.

IMPD said officers have been looking into a series of car break-ins on the south side for the last month that includes about 20 reported incidents. Investigators said Wednesday’s car theft could be connected to those cases.
