Noblesville burglary victim wrestles gun out of suspect’s hands
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (September 27, 2015) – A Noblesville homeowner refused to be a victim when he found a burglary suspect in his home.
Early Sunday morning at 12:55 a.m., officers from the Noblesville Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in the 20600 block of Summitt Road.
According to the homeowner, he found a man inside his vehicle which was parked inside his garage.
The homeowner told police that the suspect brandished a handgun when he confronted him.
The suspect then reportedly fled the scene on foot and the homeowner chased him.
The homeowner caught up with the suspect in the 5400 block of Kelly Anne Way and a physical confrontation ensued.
During the struggle, the homeowner alleges that he was able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect.
The suspect fled again, and the homeowner fired several shots from the suspect’s gun.
Around 1:19 a.m., officers located the suspect a short distance away in the 20400 block of Country Lake Boulevard.
The suspect was identified as Peyton K. Tonning, 19, of Noblesville,.
Tonning was taken into custody without incident and he reported no injuries from the gunfire.
Tonning was questioned by investigators and later transported to the Hamilton County Jail and booked on the preliminary charges of burglary, robbery, and pointing a firearm.
