What do Indy's mayoral candidates think about charter schools?

Republican Chuck Brewer and Democrat Joe Hogsett both talked about the importance of charter schools in an exclusive interview on FOX59's IN Focus.

"The number one reason why families move out of Indianapolis is they're looking for better public education opportunities for the children and you can't blame them," said Brewer. "Charters are really good programs to create choices for parents who can't move out of the city."

Hogsett had a different take- calling for more accountability for the city's charter schools.

"We have a number of charter options that are working well, some not as well," said Hogsett. "So my first priority would be to see that all mayoral charter schools are being held every bit as accountable as traditional public education."
