INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis man has been found not guilty on all of the counts he was facing in connection with a 2015 murder case.

Police believed Desmond Valentine fatally shot Brian Garrard on July 26, 2015.

According to IMPD, officers were dispatched around 10 p.m. to the 10200 block of Pineneedle Court in response to a report of shots fired. Investigators found evidence that several shots were fired in the area, including damage to multiple vehicles and an apartment building.

Later that night, officers were dispatched to Community East Hospital, where Garrard was being treated for gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

Two men with Garrard told officers he’d been shot at the Pineneedle address. Investigators said the shooting was the result of a robbery during a drug transaction set up through a friend.
