Victim identified after fatal shooting on near northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 19, 2015)– A man was shot and killed Monday night on the near northwest side of Indianapolis, police say.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Edgemont Avenue, near Doctor M.L.K. Jr. Street and West 25th Street, just before 8:15 p.m.

Officers were flagged down by residents who said they heard gunshots. Officers eventually located an unidentified adult male who had been shot several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect information has not been released.

On Tuesday, police identified the victim as Rodney Cannon, 49.
