Police arrest suspect in connection with murder of 23-year-old Indianapolis man

UPDATE: (June 22, 2017) — Antonio Merritt was found guilty of murder. A second count of possession of a firearm was dismissed because he pleaded guilty to being a habitual offender. He was sentenced to 85 years in prison.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 27, 2015) – Police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of an Indianapolis man.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit captured Antonio Merritt, 41, Indianapolis, earlier this week and questioned him about the death of 23-year-old Jordan White.

Merritt was then arrested on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

White was fatally shot around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at a home located at East 9th and North Tuxedo streets. Police said there didn’t appear to be forced entry into the home. White was pronounced dead at the scene.
