Pedestrian hit and killed by car on Interstate 74 in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (October 31, 2015) — A Shelbyville woman was killed early Saturday as she walked along I-74 in Shelby County.

The accident happened at approximately 4:30 a.m. at the 104 mile marker of I-74.   The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department said Brittney D. Shrader, 24, was walking along the interstate after her car broke down.

Shrader was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by Chad Coffey, 41, of Shelbyville.

Indiana State Police is assisted with the accident. Eastbound lanes of I-74 were closed for several hours.
