INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 2, 2015) -- An Indianapolis man was robbed, beaten and stuffed in the trunk of his own car by armed thieves over the weekend.

The violent attack took place Sunday night near 10th Street and Country Club Road on the city’s west side.

In this case, the crooks essentially tricked the victims into crime by ringing the doorbell and telling the female homeowner that kids were messing with their car in the driveway.

When the victim’s husband walked outside to check out the fake disturbance, three men all armed with handguns jumped out from behind his garage and demanded his car keys and cell phone.

“I mean, I could have easily been lured out,” said neighbor Rachel Graham.

Graham lives next door to the victims and is scared to think that she too could have easily been fooled by the con.

“It’s really scary,” said Graham. “I have young kids and a family to take care and it’s scary this is happening in this neighborhood.”

According to the police report, during the assault the female victim stayed inside the home, locked the door and called police.

One of the robbers was wearing a Scream mask told the woman they would kill her husband if she didn’t open the door, but the wife still refused.

After being hit in the face with a gun, the suspects then stuffed the husband in the trunk of his own car, stole his keys and sped away.

Police remind everyone to be cautious when strangers show up at your door.

The victim was treated on scene for minor injuries to his face.

No arrests have been made in the case, but police are looking for three male suspects and one female suspect.
