INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 14, 2015) – These aren’t your father’s Butler Bulldogs. Heck, they aren’t even your older brother’s.

Butler’s offense exploded in a 144-71 season-opening win over The Citadel, beating the previous school record for points by 16 (and that game went to double overtime). The 73-point margin of victory is also a new school record.

Seven Bulldogs finished the game scoring in double figures, led by senior Kellen Dunham’s 24. Jackson Davis chipped in with 19, Roosevelt Jones and Tyler Wideman both finished with 18, Tyler Lewis recorded 17, Kelan Martin had 13, and Andrew Chrabascz finished with 12.

Butler shot the lights out of Hinkle Fieldhouse, going 56-of-88 from the floor, a whopping 63.6 percent. Oh, and those 56 made field goals are another school record. That makes three — and number four is 73 points in a half, the total the team reached in the second 20 minutes on Saturday evening.

Even with the offensive onslaught, the Bulldogs’ defense was also on point, holding The Citadel to just a 20-of-74 shooting mark, or 27 percent.

The Bulldogs will next be in action at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, beginning Thursday, November 19 against Missouri State at 1:30 p.m.
