ANCHORAGE, AK (November 18, 2015) – An incredible 3-year-old boy in Alaska has made it his mission to help his community’s homeless population.

According to KTVA, Patrick McClung began asking his mother questions about the homeless people in Anchorage a few weeks ago.

When Patrick’s mom, Destinee, explained that the homeless people had to sleep outside, Patrick started crying. “I don’t want them to sleep on a piece of cardboard,” Patrick said while sobbing.

His mother recorded her son and posted it to Facebook.

Destinee told KTVA that she’s never seen her son act like that. “He’s 3, and everyone he knows has a house and has food and has toys. And so it really genuinely hurt his heart to kind of realize that there are people that go without.”

Patrick decided he wanted to help the homeless, and he sprung into action!

According to KTVA, Patrick hosted a shelter drive, asking for people to donate socks, cold-weather gear, toiletries and other items.

Patrick also started volunteering at the Downtown Soup Kitchen.

Destinee told KTVA, “I’m so proud of him. I think a lot of us aren’t looking to help. We just live our lives, we’re just used to homeless people and all of the issues that are around us – it’s just normal.”

Destinee urges everyone to follow Patrick’s footsteps and help whatever charity moves your heart.
