Greenfield man arrested for poaching in Hancock County

Hancock County, Ind. (November 27, 2015) – A Greenfield man is facing several charges following a tip that he was hunting illegally in Hancock County.

Andrew Hastings, 54, of Greenfield was arrested and booked into the Hancock County jail after Indiana Conservation Officers followed up on complaints for concerned citizens.  Following the locating of Hastings, he admitted to multiple fish and wildlife violations and a subsequent search of his property uncovered multiple animal and raptor parts that are unlawful to possess along with approximately 70 grams of marijuana.

Hastings faces preliminary charges of unlawful taking of Whitetail Deer, hunting without a license, unlawful hunting of migratory birds, possession of marijuana with a previous conviction, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage citizens to use the TIP hotline at 1-800-TIP-IDNR or ICO Central Dispatch at 812-873-9536 to report any hunting violations observed or known. Officers are always diligent in protection the Natural Resources and preventing them from being abused.
