INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 8, 2015) – The Indianapolis Colts addressed their injury-depleted inside linebacker position by elevating rookie Amarlo Herrera from the practice squad to the active roster.

The move was expected and a result of starting inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) and backup Nate Irving (wrist) dealing with injuries. Irving suffered a fractured wrist at Pittsburgh and was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.

In other moves, the Colts signed cornerback Jalil Brown and waived cornerback Josh Thomas. They also added linebacker Edwin Jackson to the practice squad.

Herrera was a sixth-round pick in the 2015 draft and is making his second appearance on the active roster. He was active for the October 18 loss to New England.

Herrera appeared in 54 games at Georgia, 43 as a starter. He collected 334 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions while forcing four fumbles.
