Robbery suspect wounded in shootout in west side store

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 19,2015)—Metro Police say a business owner and a robbery suspect exchanged gunfire inside a west side business Saturday morning.

The robbery as reported shortly before 10 a.m. at a convenience store in the 3400 block of West Michigan Street, near Tibbs Avenue.

According to police, the suspect fled from the business.

A short time later a person shot came down the street from the business.

Police say the male subject was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Medics transported the person to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.

Police arrested the wounded man on outstanding warrants.

Detectives are investigating if this individual was the robbery suspect.
