INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 19, 2015) — A man is now in police custody following a SWAT stand-off early Saturday morning.

IMPD says a man barricaded himself inside his home with a shot gun on the east side of Indianapolis around 3:30 a.m.

SWAT arrived soon after and blocked off roads near Southeastern Ave. and Irvington Avenue. They were able to negotiate with the man to first let his mother and autistic sister out of the home.

Authorities then spent several more hours negotiating with the subject to turn himself in.

According to police, this all started with a custody issue. After speaking with the man, they ruled him emotionally unstable.

Officers were able to resolve the incident peacefully without any injuries.
