INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 21, 2015) – The United States Postal Service expects Monday to be the busiest delivery day ahead of Christmas.  Mail carriers are prepared to deliver more than 30 million packages.

USPS estimates more than 15.5 billion letters and packages will be delivered this holiday season – a 10 percent increase over last year.  Nationally, USPS hired 30,000 employees for the holiday season. Post offices in central Indiana opened on Sundays to deal with the high volume in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Postal officials recommend customers use the new real-time delivery notification system to know exactly when their packages arrive.

There are a couple of options for those who still need to send packages for Christmas.  December 21 is the last day for Priority Mail and December 23 is the deadline for Priority Mail Express.
