Police investigate two overnight shootings

INDIANAPOLIS (December 22, 2015) – Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred late Monday night.

Police responded to the first shooting shortly after 11 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Long Wharf Dr. on the city’s northeast side. Police say a man was shot, but was awake and talking to police on scene before he was transported.

The second shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday on the city’s near north side. Police say the victim approached a van near the intersection of 25th St. and College Ave. when a person in the vehicle pulled out a gun.

The victim told police that he was shot in the cheek as he tried to run away. Officers say there are no suspects, and the victim was transported to Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, aggravated assault detectives responded to both shootings and are handling these as separate incidents.
