INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 29th, 2015) — The clean-up effort continues after several areas were hit with heavy flooding.

The Marion County Department of Public Works is offering some relief by handing out free sandbags on Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at 1725 S. West Street.

Some people who stopped by the DPW operations center on Tuesday morning say they wanted to use the resource as a preventative measure.

“It hasn’t made it into the apartments but it’s so saturated that it takes forever for the water to recede so we’re just trying to prevent it from going in to the buildings, said Debra Dennis.

As the water continues to drain, crews want to remind everyone — never try to drive through standing water on the road.
