Watson scores 20 as Creighton tops No. 18 Butler 72-64

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Maurice Watson scored 20 points, Isaiah Zierden had 13 and Creighton beat No. 18 Butler 72-64 on Saturday night.

The Bluejays (14-6, 5-2 Big East) capitalized on the Bulldogs’ cold shooting and foul trouble for their first win in 12 games against Top 25 opponents.

Reserve Kelan Martin scored 17 of his 22 points in the first half for the Bulldogs (13-6, 2-5), who dropped to 1-3 in conference road games. Kellen Dunham had 20 points.

The Bulldogs closed to 68-64 on Dunham’s 3-pointer with 18 seconds left, but Zierden and James Milliken made free throws to put the game away.

Creighton held Butler to 32.3-percent shooting.
