BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Jan. 25, 2016) -- Police arrested a man for rape after a woman reported finding disturbing images on his cell phone.

The report was initially filed with Bloomington police in early January. The woman, with the coaxing of a friend, came forward and said she had seen images on 26-year-old Robert Childers' phone that appeared to show unconscious nude women.

In one video, as well as photos, detectives described in court paperwork a woman who was "...face down and did not have any pants on." In the video, they said Childers is seen sexually assaulting her.

"...the female does not move while he is performing these acts. Since the female did not move the entire time I believed her to be unconscious," the detective wrote.

Police were able to track down the woman in the video, who told them she was drinking at her home with Childers and passed out but had no idea she was raped or that she had been recorded.

The victim also told detectives that Childers had approached her and confessed to the video, "saying he attempted to kill himself and that police have his phone," according to the paperwork. She said Childers "asked her to come with him to tell his attorney that she was aware of the pictures and video," but she spoke to police instead.

Bloomington police believe there could be more victims, after the original complainant told them that "she noticed more pictures of females nude (and) they were categorized by name in albums." Detectives are still investigating those claims.

"If anyone else thinks that they may have had contact with him or are afraid that they may have been involved in this somehow they should please come forward and talk to us at the police department," Capt. Steve Kellams said.

Childers is charged with one felony count of rape. He bonded out of the Monroe County Jail and is due for his first court appearance on Friday.
