Investigation underway involving student and staff member at Delta High School

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (January 25, 2016) – The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a complaint made at Delta High school on Thursday, January 21st. The complaint allegedly involves a school staff member and a student.

Details in the nature of the investigation aren’t being released. Calls to Delaware County 911 from Delta High School on Thursday described the incident as a sexual battery. It is unclear if a police report was made the day the alleged incident happened.

No arrests or charges have stemmed from the complaint. The sheriff’s office says they are still investigating the details.

In a statement, Delaware Community School Cooperation President, Reece Mann, said;

“On Wednesday, January 20th at approximately 3:45pm, the Delta High School administration received information expressing a concern over the potential inappropriate actions by a staff member.  We immediately initiated our safety protocols and started an investigation.  Additionally, with the assistance of our school resource officer, the administration contacted the appropriate authorities to engage in the process immediately and the investigation is currently on-going.

At the Delaware Community School Corporation the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.  We take every complaint  seriously.  As a reminder, because this investigation is on-going, specific details pertaining to personnel cannot be discussed.”
