(February 6, 2016) – A man who attempted to rob a gas station in Florida picked the wrong store to rob.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for armed robbery on January 26 at about 11 p.m.

Video surveillance from the store shows the suspect approaching the clerk and brandishing a gun while demanding money.

The clerk just so happened to be a U.S. military veteran who did multiple tours in Iraq. So when the suspect handed the clerk a bag to place the money in, the clerk knew it was his chance to disarm the suspect!

A struggle ensued for the weapon, and eventually the suspect ran out of the store. The weapon was later determined to be a black and brown replica revolver style air-soft gun.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office would also like to remind everyone that they never encourage anyone to actively engage criminals over money or personal possessions.
