LOCKLAND, OH (February 7, 2016) – Several officers in Ohio went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure a group of kids could continue to play basketball.
According to Sergeant Chris Bundren with the Lockland Police Department, Officer Ohl, Officer Jones, and Officer Moyers were working second shift when they noticed some kids playing basketball. The only problem was the kids were playing on a hoop without a backboard.
The officers stopped and talked to the kids, and they told the officers, “We just gotta hope we make it or we have to chase the ball.”
When the officers were done speaking with the kids, they went to Walmart and bought a new basketball hoop and backboard with their own money.
They took the hoop back to the police department, and they put it together between calls.
They delivered the hoop in the middle of the night, so the kids would wake up to a nice surprise in the morning.
The kids loved the hoop, and FOX19 met up with the officers the next day when they returned to play basketball with the kids.
Thank you to all the officers that make their communities a better place to live every single day!
