BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2016) – Grief counselors will be available Thursday at Traders Point Christian Academy after Wednesday’s double murder in Boone County.

Raymond Giehll IV attended preschool there and his mother served as a volunteer. Grief counselors are available for students or parents who need to talk to someone after the horrific crime shook the community.

Raymond and his mother, Katherine Giehll, were shot and killed Wednesday, which was Katherine’s 31st birthday. Investigators said her uncle, Lucius Hamilton, killed them over a family trust fund. The crime spurred a manhunt Wednesday that ultimately resulted in Hamilton’s death. Police said he shot and killed himself at an Indianapolis hotel.

Police said Raymond was killed while he was in the living room watching TV. School officials said they knew something was wrong when Raymond failed to show up Wednesday.

“We actually heard fairly early (Wednesday morning). Raymond was scheduled for some speech therapy and didn’t show up,” said Ron Evans of Traders Point Christian Academy. “We had called dad to see when mom and Raymond would be there and he said at that time there had been a tragedy and that they wouldn’t be coming to school again.”

Police planned to review security footage from the home and possibly neighboring residences.
