INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2016) – Police in Indianapolis arrested a pair of California jewel thieves following a traffic stop last week.

On Feb. 8, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Kevin Malone, 24, Longboat Key, Fla., and Jebediah Deangelis, 25, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., robbed a jewelry store in Half Moon Bay, Calif. Deangelis talked to two employees in the store and brandished a handgun. He then went behind the counter and began placing jewelry inside a black bag, police said.

Malone then entered the store, police said, to steal more jewelry. He noticed one of the employees hit the store’s alarm, prompting both men to run out.

On Feb. 12, Indianapolis Metropolitan police stopped car on I-70 in Marion County for some vehicle code violations. Officers noted the car matched the description of one provided by a witness to detectives in California, and identified Malone and Deangelis.

Officers found evidence in the car related to the jewelry store theft and detained both men, who were booked in Marion County as they awaited extradition to San Mateo County on charges of armed robbery.
