Southport police trainee transported to hospital after south side crash

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2016)– Emergency crews responded to a crash Thursday night involving a Southport police officer and a police trainee.

The crash occurred at County Line Road and US 31 around 7:15 p.m.

IMPD was assisting on the scene and said one of the several cars involved was a Southport police SUV. A field training officer and a trainee were inside. The trainee was transported to Methodist hospital in unknown condition.

According to police, the trainee was alert and conscious. The officer was not transported to the hospital.
