Police search for man who stabbed IU student in attempted robbery

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (February 28, 2016) — Officials at IU Bloomington are investigating after a robbery attempt on a student overnight.

Captain Andy Stephenson with IU Police says a student reported walking near the intersection of Law Lane and Union Street around 3:15 Sunday morning when he was approached by another male. The man approached the student and attempted to rob him. He then stabbed the student in the lower abdomen after the student told him he didn’t have any money. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction and the victim ran to his residence and was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle. The student’s injuries are not  believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect is described as an unkempt, middle-aged African-American man with a black beard, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black hoodie with a logo and black sweatpants. IU police are continuing the investigation, if you have any information on this incident, give them a call.
