Good Sunday morning everyone! It will be an extremely windy day with sustained southwesterly winds 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. A wind advisory has been issued for central Indiana starting at 11am through 7pm this evening.
Our winds right now are breezy about 5-15 mph but by 11 am they will be picking up. Here is a look at futurecast wind gusts for this afternoon.
The added bonus to the strong winds is near record temperatures this afternoon! The winds will help draw in warmer air and push highs into the mid 60s. The afternoon temperature record for Indianapolis is 68º set back in 1895, we will come close to it today!
We are starting off with clear skies and we will enjoy lots of sunshine and dry conditions into the afternoon hours. A cold front will push cloud cover into the state late this afternoon and bring rain showers in the evening hours. Rainfall totals will be light and an isolated thunderstorm can't be ruled out.
Colder air will move in behind the front giving us a cooler start to the work week with highs in the low 50s on Monday. A few disturbances will move through the region this week returning rain and snow chances to the area.
