TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Mar. 3, 2016) — A 7-year-old Border Collie has become an Internet sensation because of his Michigan airport job.
Piper works at the Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City and has been a hit on social media around the country. He started his job of chasing off wildlife in January 2015.
Four million people have clicked on a video of him doing his stuff, WXMI reports.
There’s a good reason he’s outfitted in safety goggles, earmuffs and a safety vest.
“He’s very well equipped. The specs are to protect his eyes, they’re sunglasses first and foremost,” said Piper’s owner Brian Edwards. “The earmuffs obviously are for sound when he’s close to aircrafts, and the vest is so I can lift him up and do all sorts of cool things with him.”
Edwards says Border Collies are working dogs, and having a job to do is enough to make Piper happy.

Look ma, no hands!!! LT Nick Vlasak uses some sort of voodoo magic to taxi the 1-1 into #uscg #airstatvc's ramp a couple weeks ago. LT Vlasak invited Pipe and I to our first event at the Air Station and we haven't looked back. So, on this #warriorwednesday, we're saying thanks. Thanks for your service and for being a damn good friend, Pickle!
