Snowy start equals messy morning rush; roads will get better later Thursday

Light but steady snow has been falling since 1 a.m. in downtown Indianapolis...so far, roughly an inch has already fallen and some roads are very slick. INDOT and DPW are out now and interstates have been improving significantly! I still expect some problems out-the-door on county roads, state roads and side streets, so some extra time will be needed! Reports of slide-offs have been coming in since 3 a.m. And some school delays are expected!

One more snow burst arriving around 6:30 this morning, and then we should begin to see temperatures climbing above 32° and roads turning more slushy and wet but manageable. Rising temperatures throughout the day will have this snow change to rain. Here is your day planner:
