Semi hauling 43,000 pounds of french fries crashes on I-65 in Columbus

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (March 4, 2016) —  A semi carrying  43,000 pounds of french fries  and other frozen products crashed along southbound Interstate 65 just past State Road 46 in Columbus Friday morning just before 7:30 a.m.

According to Indiana State Police, the semi left the interstate and traveled down the sloped side of the roadway before hitting a tree.  The driver was removed from the split-in half cab and was taken by a medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital in serious condition.


State police are reporting that the right lane will remain closed between Exits 64 & 68 till at least noon while the semi is off-loaded and up righted.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
