Liquor store owner shot, killed during armed robbery in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 12, 2016) — A business owner is dead after an armed robbery on the east side of Indianapolis.

The robbery happened around 2 a.m. at Allied Liquor #3 located near the corner of 38th and Emerson Avenue.

Police say two employees and the store owner were inside the liquor store when three armed suspects walked in and robbed it.  The 70-year-old owner, Jospeh Klein,  was shot in the chest multiple times.

Klein was transported to Eskenazi Health in critical condition but later died.

The two employees escaped uninjured.

According to police, the three suspects were last seen wearing masks and dark clothing. They ran from the scene heading south.  Currently, authorities are combing through surveillance footage looking for clues.
