INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 17, 2016)– Indianapolis Power and Light customers should get ready to pay more for their electricity bills.

The company got approval Wednesday from state regulators to increase its rates.

It’s unclear right now how much that will impact the average monthly bill. IPL says that will be determined in the coming days.

This is the first time in more than 20 years IPL has increased base rates for general business expenses.

IPL says there are ways to help you cover the bill increase. Budget billing will let you pay the same amount for eleven months after the increase, and settle up on the 12th month. Energy-saving tools can be found here.

Payment extensions can be made on IPL’s website. Hoosiers can get financial assistance by calling the Connect2Help line at 211.
