BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 22, 2016)– A Bloomington man was arrested after police say he stole several guitars from a deceased friend’s home.

Gabriel Rivera, 45, faces preliminary charges of theft, failure to report a dead body, dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

Police say Rivera’s friend, 62-year-old Rickey Kinser, died of natural causes on Feb. 29.

Neighbors told police Rivera had been seen at Kinser’s home before the death was reported to authorities.

On March 4, several items were reported missing from the home, including eight guitars and an amplifier.

Bloomington police obtained a search warrant for Rivera’s home and searched it. Not only did they find the guitars and the amplifier, they also discovered ten marijuana plants.

Rivera allegedly told police Kinser wanted him to have the items.

He was arrested and then released after he posted bail. He is due in court on Friday.
