(March 27, 2016) – “Are you OK?” Many Facebook users were asked that very question Sunday afternoon following an explosion in Pakistan. The issue is that many of those users were nowhere near Pakistan.

According to the Associated Press, a breakaway faction of the militant Taliban group has claimed responsibility for an Easter Sunday bomb attack on a park in the eastern city of Lahore that killed 60 people and wounded 300.

Facebook sends users a “safety check” if they are near a disaster area, and then users can reply “SAFE” to let friends and family know they are safe.
