WASHINGTON D.C. (March 27, 2016) - Indiana congressman Todd Rokita paid tribute to slain Howard Co. deputy Carl Koontz on the floor of the U.S. House last week.

"I offer my deepest and most heartfelt condolences for the family of Deputy Koontz during this time and I thank him for all his hard work and ultimate sacrifice," said Rokita.

Deputy Koontz was shot and killed March 20 while serving a warrant in Russiaville. Sergeant Jordan Buckley was also wounded in the incident, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Deputy Koontz leaves behind his wife Cassandra, and his 8-month-old son Noah.
